This is a location you don’t just stumble on- it’s deep off the road in a rural part of Georgia. But I was glad I made the effort since the church is in rough shape and might not be there the next time I’m in that area.
The building was built in 1919 by a congregation of former slaves. There’s still a lot of interesting detail on the exterior, but not much of interest is inside other than the remains of an old player piano. There’s a small cemetery across a dirt road in front of the church with graves dating back to the early nineteenth century.
