I’ve stopped by this church twice so far on trips through Georgia-this one is located in Taliaferro County. When I stop at a location for the first time I always check the door to see if it’s open. Maybe about 10% of the time it is and I have the chance to look inside. This old church has some maintenance issues and the front door is fairly warped, so I doubt it could be locked unless it was replaced.
The Gothic Revival church building is believed to have been built in 1899. Former slaves were among those that established the church towards the end of the 19th century. Over time, the population has drifted away and services are no longer held here. There is also a small cemetery on the southeast side of the grounds.
